The curved shape of the Coventry leisure centre (see above) posed a major architectural and engineering challenge for all involved. Designed by Engenuiti, the Wi system was used to create the inner circle of block walls that forms the lazy river, one of the project’s main features.

This presents a significant challenge when using the traditional masonry support methods such as lintels and wind posts as all elements would have to be made to measure, leading to long lead times and a high potential for error.

The Wi system alternative however consists of nothing more than standard components and, in what was a first for the system proved yet again that it is the most versatile system on the market.

The picture below shows one section of the wall that has windows with one metre spacing between them, metre raking from high to low level with the Wi beam following this all the way along.
